There is a difference between animal rights and animal welfare. While no one in their right mind wants to see an animal abused or mistreated, pets and animals are not humans, they are not entitled to the same rights as humans. Animal activists are pushing for animal rights, which in the long run will end our rights to own a pet of our choice. Educate yourself on the difference between Rights and Welfare, before our human rights are taken away. Protect your right to buy or adopt a pet of your choice. Your right to buy from a breeder of your choice or adopt from a shelter. Before sending your money to the HSUS, research them, see just how little of your donation actually helps any local pets in shelters. Donate locally. When pushing for stricter laws regarding pets, remember we have children going to bed hungry, seniors without money to pay for basic utilities, soldiers who are homeless. Our humans need someone fighting for their rights, also. While I love my pets, dogs and horses, I love people more. We need to get our priorities in order and lift each other up instead of trying so hard to tear people down. Before believing everything you see on television, the internet or radio, check the facts. Protect human rights to make our own choices, we don't all have to agree, but we all do deserve the right to choose what we eat, what pet we own, where we buy our pets. Keep in mind a child deserves as much love and care as a puppy.
